Can a bullet fired in the air be fatal? Let's find it out with the help of 3D Animation. A bullet fired in the air during a celebration attains the velocity of around 610 meters/second after leaving the pistol. Right after leaving the gun, this bullet starts to travel in the upward direction with its maximum possible speed. In bullet's upward journey, the air resistance and gravitational force act as hindrance, which results in the reduction of bullet's velocity. After reaching a maximum height of 3000 meters, this bullet starts to proceed towards the ground under the influence of gravity, and reaches a speed of around 91 meters/second, which is more than enough to kill a person. Number of incidents have been recorded till the date where more than 4% people lost their lives worldwide because of a bullet returning back to the ground after being fired in the air. In 2021, few militants made some air shots in a celebration, which became a cause of death of 17 people, and around 41 got injured.
