Explaining A Preauricular Sinus, A Tiny Hole Above Some People's Ears
A small percentage of the population is born with preauricular sinus, a small hole around the outer ear. It's usually where the face and cartilage of the ear meet. It's technically a birth defect but generally it isn't a big deal. However, should the sinus become infected or form a cyst, treatment may be necessary. Here's why the hole exists.
